Each year the RBC hosts the Andrew Spiller Memorial Challenge Ride & Picnic. This is a day where you can challenge yourself or just enjoy the beautiful rides - any length you want. The Challenge Ride was first held in 1989. Andrew Spiller, an RBC member and long distance cyclist, was tragically killed in June 1992 when he was hit by a car during a very long endurance ride. Andrew contributed to the club in many ways, and the Challenge Ride was renamed in his memory.

Our less demanding rides are labeled SUPPORTED RIDES (SR) (Formerly Slow & Easy). These rides are ridden as a loose group that will pause to regroup from time to time. To participate on an SR ride, you need to be physically conditioned and able to cycle for 2 hours at about 10-12 mph over some possible rolling terrain. The leader always rides at the back of the group and is there to provide support and encouragement. Ride leaders will give tips on safety and technique and may assist with minor repairs.
